The Parable of the Good Samaritan

Parable of the Good Samaritan, Good Samaritan, Parables, Bible, Holy Bible,

Love Your Neighbor As You Would Love Yourself

Luke 10:25-37

The Parable of the Good Samaritan

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever you spend more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do likewise.

The most educated and most religious of the three who saw the man that had been beaten and robbed did not stop to help. Why? We were told the priest did not stop in fear of getting soiled. He would have then had to clean up again before attending services and would probably be late. The Levite likewise would have either been late to his destination or it wasn't in his interest to stop and help.

The Samaritan didn't have much in common with the injured man. He was not from the same culture but had compassion towards the individual. The Samaritan began the man's healing process by dressing his wounds and taking him to an inn enlisting and paying others to complete the hurt man's care. It is good to remember that the Samaritan didn't do it all. Some get overwhelmed trying to do it all. God gave the Samaritan a job (transport and payment), the Samaritan gave the inn keeper a job (lodging and care), the inn keeper likely hired another to administer treatment (like a doctor). Noticing that one person doesn't carry the load is important.

Parable Without Honor Matthew 13

Parable Without Honor Matthew 13:53-58

It is worth noting before we finish out the last few Parables of Jesus Christ from Matthew 13, the last of these. In your own house, your words may not hold the weight they do elsewhere.

53 When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there.

54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked.

55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?

56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”

57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”

58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

Closer 2 Jesus Parables Matthew 13

The Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast Matthew 13:31-35

Closer 2 Jesus, Parables, Mustard Seed, Matthew, Matthew 13, Parable of the Mustard Seed, God Bless,

31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.

32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

33 He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

34 Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable.

35 So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophet:

“I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”

The Kingdom of Heaven may start as a whisper but will grow into a strong wind. It is said that all men are Gods creation, all men have the Word in their heart written inside. The whisper is familiar, let it grow and spread like the yeast of the dough.

The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl Matthew 13:44-46

44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.

46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
